Kanti High way Road Construction secrets, Every Nepalese should know

The Kanti Rajpath is the 90 KM road that has been being used as a shorter alternative to Hetauda-Narayangadh-Muglin-Kathmandu and Hetauda-Palung-Kathmandu roads. 
The track of the Highway was inaugurated in 1959. This is the  highway which connects Kathmandu with Hetauda and Birjung as a shortest and comfortable way.
Its nearly 6 decades. Among these year, nothing big change happen on this road. This was the easy source for "Contractors and leaders" for their easy income source. King of Nepal, late Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev had come Kathmandu to Hetauda through Kantilokpath by driving himself after the opening of the highway in 1959 with his own taxi. Now also only taxi come very roughly.
But now a days the speed of work on this highway is increase rapedly. The first phase of this highway project is section of road from Chuchekola in Makawanpur district to Jitpur Bhangyang (15 Km) which is going to be blacktopped within few days.
The contract for blacktopping the road has taken by the Kathmandu-based Motidan Construction at a cost of RS 80 million.
Apart form Motidan, other two contractors also taken the contract for the extending this Highway. The budget for the current fiscal year has allocated nearly around Rs 600 million to blacktopping Highway.
The deadline is limited for all the company and working to catch the deadline. They promise to blacktop the construction of Highway within this fiscal year. The road will have 15 meter width where only half of its width will be blacktopped. Vehicles are allowed to use blacktopped area with average speed of 30km/hr. This means people can reach satdobato, Lalitpur from hetauda in just 3 hr.

Project Objective:

  • The track of the Highway was inaugurated in 1959 and this project is to redevelop and upgrade the road to make it comfortable and reliable alternative route to connect Tarai to Kathmandu.
  • This project cost is Estimated as Rs. 1,21,91,10,000
  • The design and survey had done by korea International Cooperation Agency in 2003.
  • It will have 92 km full lenth. with starting point Hetauda and ending point Satdobato, Lalitpur.
  • It will have some River Crossing, at Jitpur and simat at 31 km, Bagmati at 51km and Nallu at 82 km.
