Democratic Republic of Nepal. She elected at the post President of Nepal with
327 votes while defeating Nepali Congress Leader Kul Bahadur Gurung and replaced the place of Ram Baran Yadab.

- Bidya Devi Bhandari birth place is Guranse village of Bhojpur district and birth day is June 19, 1961.
- She first got CPN-ML membership in 1980, at the age of 19.
- Bidya Devi Bhandari was married with great ideal Communist Leader Madan Kumar Bhandari in 2039(BS) But unfortunately her husband died in a car accident in 1993(2050BS).
- After marriage Bhandari had left her politics but she returned to active politics after her husband's death.
- She has two children named Usha Kiran Bhandari and Nisha Kusum Bhandari.
- Forbes placed Bidya Devi Bhandari at 52 position in their list of the world’s 100 most powerful woman.
- Now the current ruling CPN-UML she is the vice chairperson.
- She had played important role to guarantee at least 33% women’s representative in each state mechanism.
- She has held cabinet portfolios in the past, one of them being the Minister for Defence in the Madhav na Prasad Bhattarai in 2050 and Nepal-led government of 2009-2011. She was also the minister for environment and population in the 1990s.
