Mahavir Pun Vs Durga Parsai :“The 600,000 debtors should be removed from the blacklist"
After Durga Prasai said, “The 600,000 debtors should be removed from the blacklist, banks and businessmen should be separated”, Mahavir Pun writes:
“How exaggeratedly unrealistic
this talk of Durga Bhai is! As the Minister of Education, due to lack of funds,
I haven’t been able to provide local allowances and cost-of-living allowances
to many teachers. Schools that come asking for help have been turned away
empty-handed because they don’t have roofs or classrooms. Due to a shortage of
teachers, there isn’t even a contingency budget to send a teacher to schools
that request just one teacher.
How does Durga Bhai expect to
remove 600,000 people from the blacklist, increase the monthly salary of army
and police to 100,000, and waive loans under 2 million? If that were done, the
people’s money deposited in banks would collapse. He’s not Kuvera, the god of
wealth, after all. And surely everyone knows that money cannot be printed like
books in a printing press.
Durga Bhai, one shouldn’t mislead
the public with such unrealistic talk. Earlier, many people made unrealistic
promises like bringing railways, bringing ships, making Nepal one of the
wealthiest countries in South Asia in 12 years, and turning Nepal into
Singapore. If someone talks like this, they become a subject of ridicule. Let’s
discuss things with understanding and facts. Tathāstu (so be it).”
