After the Supreme Court’s verdict, Shakya returns to the leadership of the Authority Again

 Hitendra Dev Shakya, who was reinstated as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) through a mandamus order of the Supreme Court, assumed his responsibilities on Wednesday.

After the Supreme Court’s order reached the Authority on Tuesday, Shakya arrived at the central office of the Authority in Ratnapark at 10:30 AM on Wednesday and resumed his position.

On Ashoj 5, the Cabinet had transferred Shakya from the Nepal Electricity Authority to the Water and Energy Commission and appointed Manoj Silwal as the Executive Director in his place. The Supreme Court annulled that decision on Monday, stating that it was against the law.

Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising had removed Shakya from the Executive Director position after assuming office. Shakya had challenged this decision at the Supreme Court.

A joint bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Shrikant Paudel annulled Shakya’s transfer and issued a mandamus order in the name of the government to reinstate him as the Executive Director of the Authority.

With the Supreme Court’s decision, Shakya has once again returned to the leadership of the Nepal Electricity Authority.
