Prashant Tamang Passes Away at 42


Prashant Tamang, the winner of Indian Idol Season 3 (2007), has passed away at the age of 42.

After suffering a heart attack, he was taken to a hospital in Dwarka, New Delhi, in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. Indian media outlets reported that he died shortly after returning to the capital following the completion of a program in Arunachal Pradesh. During his lifetime, he had not shown any kind of serious health problems.

He was born on 4 January 1983 in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Having lost his father at a young age, Tamang took on the responsibility of his family and began serving as a constable in the Kolkata Police, where he also sang in the police band.

After winning Indian Idol, he released several music albums and later expanded his career into acting. The Nepali film “Gorkha Paltan”, in which he acted, was well received by audiences.

In recent times, he also appeared in the Indian web series “Paatal Lok” Season 2 and acted in Salman Khan’s film “Battle of Galwan”.

It has not yet been decided whether his last rites will be performed in Darjeeling or in Delhi.
